In 2010, Oscar Balza, a Venezuelan drummer and Berklee College graduate, founded CIONICO, a personal music project that intertwines his life experiences through lyrics, harmonies, and sounds.

In November 2022, CIONICO released their debut album, "No hay espacio en el cielo," a collection of 12 songs available on various digital platforms. The album was co-produced by Carlos Quintero and Oscar Balza, with mixing handled by Bob St. John, known for his work with Aerosmith, Duran Duran, and Steve Perry. CIONICO is currently working on their second album, also with St. John, and on an EP titled "Spoken Portrait," featuring English versions of tracks from their first album.

In 2022, CIONICO launched the album with a music video for the lead single. In 2023, they released a video for "Esperaré," and in early 2024, they dropped "All of me," the English version of their Spanish song "Todo," which will be included in the upcoming EP

CIONICO is composed of four members: Leo Rojo on vocals and guitar, Gerardo Pérez Giusti on bass and keyboards, Oscar Balza handling lyrics, music, drums, programming, and backing vocals, and Wade Torres on guitar.
